Last month, during Christmas season, we started testing Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall 300 on our network.
Our senior Network Engineer set it up using the firewall’s out-of-the-box default options.
He warned us that the month-long test was about to begin, and that we should be prepared for the firewall’s initial learning period, where we would teach the firewall which emails to whitelist or not. Being the Christmas season when emails from various sources peak, I prepared for the worst.
Well, it was anti-climactic. The test month passed without me, nor the others, being prompted to check any suspect email. There were no viruses, spam, phishing attacks, nor were there false positives. It has even reduced the volume of spams I usually receive. A colleague even said that whereas before she used to receive tons of spam both on her Inbox and Junk folders, she now has hardly any in both.
Turns out, Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall already has optimized default settings not needing any further learning time, works silently behind the scenes, and works more efficiently and effectively than others. A great investment especially for small businesses who wants their firewall working immediately out-of-the-box.
